How to Become an Advanced Soccer Player

In order to further your soccer career, sometimes you need to take matters into your own hands--or feet, in this case. Utilizing time outside of practice is a great way to become an advanced soccer player, as you can focus on areas you know you need to improve upon. The better your soccer skills become, the more playing time you should see.

Instructions

    • 1

Look for local clubs and teams to join. Oftentimes there are traveling teams where you visit different towns and cities to play soccer, but it can be expensive to be a member of the team. Do your research before trying out for these teams to see if they're up to your skill level.

    • 2

Better your ball-handling skills. This can be as simple as working on your dribbling with both feet, to launching some shots against a brick wall (after you ask permission, of course). These are drills you can work on outside of practice without a teammate to assist you.

    • 3

Practice as often as you can. Just because you're not at practice doesn't mean you can't practice on your own.

    • 4

Increase your endurance. Soccer is a 90-minute game played with constant motion. You need to have distance running as well as sprinting under your belt.

    • 5

Study professional or collegiate soccer players. Focus on players who play your position, and take notes on what works for them and what doesn't.

Tips & Warnings

  • There's no quick way to becoming an advance soccer player. It takes time and many hours of practice, so be patient.

  • It's best to start playing at a young age, but if you didn't start until later in life, it doesn't mean you can't become an advanced soccer player.
