Step1
Check your local newspaper for free events. For example, you might find music in the park, festivals or a good time to visit the zoo and museums.
Step2
Pack a picnic basket. Grab a blanket or chair, sunglasses, sunscreen and your favorite book and head to the beach. Go for a swim or build a sandcastle.
Step3
Get some exercise. Take a walk, go skating, take a hike or get out the bicycles. Stay home and enjoy a game of badminton, volleyball or croquet with the family in the backyard.
Step4
Take a family vacation that offers good outdoor activities for everyone. If you decide not to travel far, visit your State's local resorts. Rent a cabin that offers the luxury of home.
Step5
Plan a party, invite the neighbors and have everyone bring their favorites to put on the grill. Create fun games to play, for example, board and card games, catch or Frisbee.
Step6
Make lemonade, ice tea, ice cream floats or popsicles. Sit on the porch and enjoy good conversation.
