How to Build an Online Family Tree

Building a family tree is a blast and simple to do when using Facebook. Communicate regularly with relatives who already have Facebook accounts and add others who don't. Watch as the tree grows from other relatives' input and let fascinating family facts come to you on the electronic tree.

Instructions

1. Log in to the main Facebook page and look for the "Search" box on the upper left side of the screen. Type in the words "We're related" then click the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

2. Find the blue link that say "We're Related" on the results page and click it to open the "We're Related" application install page.

3. Click the choice that says, "Add Application." Choose your privacy settings as directed.

4. Go back to the "Profile" page on Facebook by clicking the white word that says "Profile" on the upper left. You should now see the "We're Related" application on your Profile page. Click the arrow next to it if it is minimized so you can see your choices.

5. Scroll down to the bottom of the application and select the icon that looks like a leaf. This takes you to a basic family tree. Start filling in information about your relatives.
