How to Create a Good Mage Pure on Runescape

Mage pures can be powerful tools of player killing destruction, since magic is very hard to defend against. Building a mage pure is more difficult than building other pures, though--mainly because you'll be using up a ton of items like runes that you'll need to keep replacing.

Instructions

    • 1

Stock up on as many runes and staves as you can. At the very least, you want a thousand each of chaos and mine runes as well as a Staff of Air. Keep your fire, water and earth runes stocked up in the hundreds.

    • 2

Find monsters to attack who can't hit you back. The best are the caged beast in the Mage Tower, the Draynor prison guards while you hide behind the fence and any Wilderness monsters while you stand across the ditch.

    • 3

Turn off your character's auto-retaliate function. This will prevent your defense from increasing. This is very important because a true pure (of any type) does not build up his defense at all.

    • 4

Upgrade to a mystic staff and mystic robes if you can get them. Mystic staves give unlimited use of two types of runes at once, and mystic robes boost your magic power. You must be a Runescape member to get these items.

    • 5

Head into the WIlderness once your Mage level is over 25. Mage pures at this level can dominate the Wilderness, especially at player killing against Level 3 to 30 characters.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid using your strongest spells while building your mage level, as it will cost you a lot to replace your most expensive runes. The fire strike may be your best spell to use.

  • You definitely need to make money while building a mage pure, so you can replace your runes. Try mining and selling ores or rune essence. Or kill hill giants and sell the big bones they drop.
