Things You'll Need:
- Paper plate
- Stapler
- Dried elbow macaroni or dried beans
- Tape
- Stickers
- Glue
- Glitter
- Markers
-
Step 1
Take a clean paper plate and have your child bend it in half. With it bent in half and your child holding it, staple around the plate. Leave about an inch or so open on a corner.
-
Step 2
Get your child to grab a handful of elbow macaroni or dried beans. Have her carefully put them into the plate by dropping them down the space that you left open. When you have enough in there, staple the remaining part of the plate.
-
Step 3
Put small pieces of tape over the backs of the staples. Staples can be sharp and they can also come loose, so putting tape on them will not only keep the sharp edges from hurting your child, but prolong the life of the tambourine.
-
Step 4
Decorate the tambourine with your child. You can use markers to draw music notes or have your child write his name. If you have stickers, throw some of them on there, or let your child drizzle some glue over the tambourine and shake on some sparkly glitter.
-
Step 5
Let the tambourine dry, especially if you have used glue and glitter. If your child tries to play with it right away, you will not only have a big mess, but an unhappy child.
