Instructions

    • 1

Follow the pattern of the last cut you got from the salon to trim your hair and give it the bouncy look you get from a fresh cut.

    • 2

Clip up the top layers of your hair with hair clips all the way around your head, leaving one layer. Cut it first, then release a layer at a time and just follow the same lines that are already there. Re-clip the extra hair on top of your head.

    • 3

Cut into your hair once you are finished with the even layers. Zigzag the scissor all over your head to give it a more natural look. Just hold the scissors sideways and cut v-shaped angles all over your head.

    • 4

Pull your hair back into a ponytail. Make the knot near the top of your head. Cut off a couple inches of the ponytail and release it from the holder. Shake it loose and you have a newly created layered look. You can touch it up with more cuts as described in step three.

    • 5

Draw an imaginary line across your bangs and cut straight across. Then go back and make v-cuts with the scissors at various intervals. Unless you have a very symmetrical style, which layering is not conducive to, you should make the v-cuts random to give you a really natural look.
