Step1
Learn about the theory of lucid dreaming which involves a period of sleep where you consciously realize that you're dreaming and still remain in the dream state. You can read more about the theory of lucid dreaming on the Lucidity Institute's website (see Resources).
Step2
Try to move your body in the dream. Instead of trying to wake yourself up once you realize you're dreaming, attempt to move a part of your dream body instead. For instance, concentrate on shaking your dream hand. The more you practice this, the more things about your dream you'll have the ability to control.
Step3
Focus your mind on flying. As you fall asleep, tell yourself that the next time you dream, you'll imagine yourself flying. Let your mind consider as many details as possible such as the way things look in flight and the wind on your face.
Step4
Think about the dream as soon as you wake up. Keep a journal next to your bed and make a habit of recording your dreams each night. This helps you remember your flying dreams better once waking. If you don't dream of flying right away, just keep focusing your mind before sleep and then trying to control your body's movements while lucid dreaming.
