How to Flirt Through Text Messages

Text messaging is the flirtation tool of the new millennium, and it's quickly becoming the main form of communication in a relationship. Gone are the days when a crush would call to ask about your day. Now he--or she--sends you a text message. Let your potential sweetheart know that you're ready to play the game by flirting right back through text messages.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Make smiley faces or frowny faces so your guy or girl knows your current mood. Instead of saying that you're happy or sad, let an emoticon speak for you.
Step2
Use nicknames or pet names whenever possible, which lets the other person know you're thinking about him or her. Use the same special name you do in person, be it "sweetie," "darling" or "honey."
Step3
Wait for the other person to respond before you send another message and give her time to respond. She may be right in the middle of doing something else but still want to respond.
Step4
Ask how he feels or what he's doing if you send a text message that seems a little off the cuff. Your significant other might be trying to figure out a way to respond.
Step5
Act cute and flirty whenever possible and say the same things you would if the person was there in front of you. Think of something that will grab her attention right off the bat.
Step6
Try flirting early in the morning or late at night, anytime the other person might not be expecting it. This puts you front and center in his mind, and you'll make sure he's thinking of you.
Step7
Be the first one to end the conversation every now and then by telling her you need to do something or go somewhere. That keeps the person guessing and wondering what else you have going on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't let the text messaging become the only way you ever flirt with your significant other. Make sure you still talk on the phone and flirt in person whenever you can.
  • Skip using numbers to spell out words unless you're still in high school. You want that special person in your life to think you're fun and cool, not immature.
  • There's a line between appropriate text messaging and inappropriate messaging. If you plan on crossing that line, make sure you delete messages from both your inbox and outbox or be careful about who you let see your phone.
  • Don't automatically assume that others know Internet language. You might say "brb" thinking they'll know you mean you'll "be right back" when they have no idea what you just said.
  • Don't send a drunken text message thinking that you'll be cute and funny. You're far more likely to be belligerent and annoying, which is a turn off.
