How to Buy Boys Jeans

Boys are notoriously hard on jeans. Skinned knees and grass stains are among the most popular ways your little sweetheart destroys his pants. So it's no shock that when buying a new pair of jeans you need to be extra careful.

1. Size up your boy for his new jeans. Do not base the new size on old sizes that fit, as they may be a different brand that uses a different system for measurement. Also, his old jeans may have stretched or shrunk to fit but give an inaccurate estimate of his waist and length.

2. Know your boy's day-to-day needs in a pair of pants. If he is the kind of child who constantly gets stains and rips, maybe it would be best to invest in cheaper jeans that are easy to discard when ruined.

3. Look on the tag to see if it can be machine washed in cold water. This is a sign of resilient pants. so when junior skins his knee and gets blood on the legs, it will mostly wash out. Some jeans are not as forgiving, so do your homework.

4. Pick colors that absorb stains well like black and blue. Lighter-colored jeans will easily show stains and can be ruined a lot quicker than darker colors.

5. Decide between elastic waist or button pants. Elastic can be useful for a growing boy, as he will fit into the jeans sooner. However, some find the elastic a sign of shoddy construction.
