If you've researched and contacted all of the modeling agencies, you're next step is to begin building a solid portfolio to present at interviews. If you're particularly interested in becoming an eye makeup model, it's imperative that you know the best way to apply eye makeup for your photo shoots. Remember that your eye makeup defines your entire look.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Cleanse your face thoroughly before you ever apply any makeup. After all, you want to start with a clean canvas.
Step2
Begin with a simple application of eyeliner. Apply eyeliner slightly heavier for a photo shoot than you would for everyday wear. Sharpen your eyeliner pencil for a more dramatic look and use your elbow as extra support to make sure that you have a steady hand.
Step3
Curl your eyelashes before you apply any mascara. Curling your lashes makes for a more dramatic look and it prevents breakage.
Step4
Brush an eye shadow across your upper eyelids. If you use a color that is similar to your eyeliner, you can camouflage lines if they aren't perfectly drawn.
Step5
Apply mascara from the base of your lashes and feather the wand as you move it further towards the tips. This method prevents clumping.
Step6
Find a photographer to create a portfolio of shots focusing on different looks. Make sure to include close-ups on a variety of eye make up techniques, from natural, glamorous, dramatic and trendy in your photos.
Step7
Hire an agent to set up potential photo shoots and modeling jobs. Also, volunteer for makeup artist in training or in makeup artist school. This is a great way to network with people in the field.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't need to spend a lot of money on a photographer. Many local colleges have photographers that are willing to gain experience by doing a photo shoot for free.
  • Practice a presentation about your experience and skills for potential interview for modeling jobs.
