How to Become a Certified Sybase Professional

If you're in a career that involves using Sybase software products, you may wish to become a Certified Sybase Professional. Sybase offers the Unwired Enterprise, software that delivers real-time access to information in areas such as database management, data integration and data warehousing for healthcare, financial services and government solutions.

Instructions

1. Have some practical experience with the product for which you want to become certified. You can get certified for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), Sybase Replication Server or Sybase IQ.

2. Go to the Sybase website. Create a profile. Download Sybase Certification Preparation Exams relating to the area in which you are seeking to become certified.

3. Take the practice exams. Your results on these exams will produce a personalized training plan. Which courses you enroll in will be determined by this evaluation of your technical skills.

4. Enroll in courses at a Sybase Learning Center. You can enroll online or by contacting the Learning Center nearest you by phone.

5. Register for the exam at Prometric, either online or by phone. Show up at the exam site 15 minutes prior to the test with two forms of identification and payment for the exam fee.

6. Pass the Sybase Certified Professional Program exam with a minimum score of 70 percent. You'll receive your ID Card and Certificate of Achievement 6 weeks after the exam.

Tips & Warnings

• You can retake the Certified Sybase Professional exam if you fail; however, if you fail a second time, there is a 30-day waiting period before you can take the exam a third time.
• Training guides are available from Sybase to help you prepare for and pass the exam. Courses are not required but are strongly recommended.
