How to Make Peppermint Suntan Lotion
Homemade natural peppermint suntan lotion is a smooth, creamy lotion that can protect your skin from the sun's damaging rays during limited sun exposure. Things You'll Need
- 1 cup distilled water
- Non-reactive saucepan
- 1 cup fresh or 1/4 cup dried peppermint leaves
- 4 tea bags
- Bowl
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
- 4 tbsp.sesame oil
- 1/3 cup lanolin
- 4 drops peppermint essential oil
- Blender
- Rubber spatula
- Resealable container

Place a cup of distilled water in a non-reactive saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and add the peppermint and the tea bags to the simmering water.

Allow the peppermint and the tea bags to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain the water into a bowl, discard the peppermint and the tea bags, and set the water aside.

Put the coconut oil, sesame oil, lanolin and peppermint essential oil in a blender and blend at low speed. With the blender still running, slowly pour the mint water into the mixture, stopping occasionally to scrape the sides of the blender container with a rubber spatula.

Pour your suntan lotion into a resealable container and use it immediately. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Tips & Warnings
You can substitute wheat germ oil or jojoba oil for coconut oil.
Although peppermint suntan lotion can help to screen out the burning rays of the sun, don't rely on it to protect you from burning during prolonged exposure.
