Things You'll Need:
- A half dozen to one dozen long stemmed flowers
- Greenery or filler
- Florist's tape
- Ribbon
- Straight pins with decorative tips
- Something old, new, borrowed or blue
- Scissors
-
Step 1
Lay out all of your supplies. It is important to make sure you have everything you need before you start. Pick up the largest bloom first. Hold it facing you, and place two other, smaller blooms around it.
-
Step 2
Keep the largest bloom in the center of your hand-tied wedding bouquet as you add the others, and pick up one bloom at a time to add to the mix.
-
Step 3
Make sure that you have an even distribution of flowers, especially if you are using different blooms or different colors of the same bloom. If you are using one color of one type of flower, the uniformity is apparent due to the solid color.
-
Step 4
Use the greenery throughout the bouquet, or you can save it for last, and only place leaves or ferns on the edges of your blooms.
-
Step 5
Secure the blooms together with florists tape in one middle point on the stems. If you want to have your blooms domed a bit, you can cross all of your stems at one central point on the stems. After you secure the stems together, wrap the florist's tape with the ribbon of your choice. Wrap the ribbon, without leaving any space, up and then down. Be sure to leave some stems showing at the bottom.
-
Step 6
Cut the stems of your hand-tied wedding bouquet the same length to make the ends look clean and even.
-
Step 7
Add some flare, and tradition, to your bouquet by tying something old, new, borrowed or blue. Wrap your grandmother's pearls around the base of your hand-tied wedding bouquet, pin your mother's antique broach to the center of your ribbon or use a tiny blue accent to touch up your bouquet.
