A hot dog aficionado knows the best hot dogs around. If your favorite is a Chicago-style hot dog, you're bound to crave the real thing no matter where you are. There may not be too many places that sell a Chicago-style hot dog near you, so learn how to make them on your own.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Skillet
  • 2 beef hot dogs
  • Pickle spears or slices
  • 4 tablespoons chopped onions
  • 2 small hot peppers
  • 2 hot dog buns
  • Mustard
  • Pickle relish

Step1
Add a couple of tablespoons of oil to a skillet. Heat slightly, and then add two all-beef hot dogs to the oil. Keep a close watch, and move the skillet around so that neither of the hot dogs burns. Turn the hot dogs over to cook all sides of the skin.
Step2
Remove the skillet from the heat and set aside.
Step3
Open one of the hot dog buns. Place slices of tomato and pickles on each side of the bun. These vegetables make the crunch that is so wonderful on a Chicago hot dog.
Step4
Place the hot dog in the middle of all of this. Top with yellow mustard, sweet relish, chopped onions and peppers. Some people add a dash of celery salt, but this is something that differs with tastes.
Step5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to make the other hot dog. Put both on one plate.
Step6
Grab a handful of chips and a cold drink. Now, you are ready to enjoy a delicacy that many people crave. These homemade Chicago hot dogs will taste as good as those at Fluky's.
