Step 1
Get the feel for the squash ball by gently hitting it against the front wall. Maintain a steady pace by hitting the ball in the same location each time. Alternate your forehand and backhand.
-
Step 2
Alter the first drill by standing in the corner and hitting the squash ball gently into the sidewall so that it bounces off the front wall and then returns to you. Hit a backhand shot to the front wall so that the ball hits the sidewall and returns to your forehand.
-
Step 3
Hit the ball from sidewall to sidewall by standing in the middle of the court and striking the ball so it bounces off each wall as you alternately use your forehand and backhand.
-
Step 4
Practice your serves. Lobs and hard serves are the two basic types. Hit lobs high so they land near the back corner of the court. Hit hard serves low so they land just past the service box.
-
Step 5
Work your forehand and backhand drives. Hit the squash ball against the front wall so that it bounces off and travels close to the sidewall without hitting it. If you hit the ball, so that it returns and bounces off the middle of the sidewall, you make the ball more accessible to your opponent.

Step 6
Boast the ball. This involves hitting the ball against three walls before it hits the ground. Practice this by hitting the ball against the sidewall, at an angle so the ball bounces off the front wall and then off the opposite sidewall.
