Making your own Christmas ornaments allows you to enjoy a personalized Christmas tree and décor. Creating henna inspired Christmas ornaments adds even more personality to your Christmas scheme by combing two different traditions and cultures to create a uniquely designed Christmas item.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dough ornament recipe
  • Clay
  • Cookie cutter or stamp
  • Straw
  • Henna stencil
  • Henna design book
  • Mod-Podge
  • Glass ornament
  • Henna tattoo sticker
  • Decoupage paste
  1. Step 1

Follow your favorite recipe for dough ornaments to create the canvas for the henna Christmas ornament. Use bakeable clay as an alternative if you do not want to mix the dough ornaments.

  2. Step 2

Use a cookie cutter or cookie stamp to cut basic Christmas shapes out of the ornament dough. Use simple shapes such as circles, bells, stars. Find cookie cutters at any craft store. Make a hole in the top of the shape using a straw. Look at ornament design examples at hennaoutsidethebox.com or in henna design books from amazon.com.

  3. Step 3

Bake the shape at the recommended temperature and then paint your ornament using henna stencil. You can either purchase the stencil at a website such as hennamehindi.com or create your own stencil using cardboard and a favorite henna design. Seal the ornament design using a clear coat sealant such as Mod-Podge available at any craft store.

  4. Step 4

Create a glass based henna Christmas ornament using tattoo henna stickers. Paint the glass ornaments a good backdrop color like dark brown, green or other earth tones. Place henna tattoo stickers from hennamehindi.com onto the ornament once the pain has dried. Use decoupage to seal the sticker into place on the ornament.
