Microsoft Windows XP displays printer notifications by default in the lower right corner of your computer screen. A message displays when you or someone else prints a document. You have the option of hiding this printer notification if you find it distracting or intrusive.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Press the "Start" button on the bottom of your computer screen to display the Start menu. Choose "Printers and Faxes" from the right side of the Start menu. The Printers and Faxes window will come up on the desktop.
Step2
Choose "Server Properties" from the File menu in the Printers and Faxes window. The Print Server Properties dialog box will now open onto the desktop.
Step3
Select the "Advanced" tab at the top of the Print Server Properties dialog box (if necessary). The advanced settings for the printer server will now display in the dialog box.
Step4
Click in the box before "Show informational notifications for network printers" in the Print Server Properties dialog box to remove the check mark. This tells your computer that you don't want to see the printer notifications on your screen.
Step5
Close the Printer Server Properties dialog box and the Printers and Faxes window.
