Twitter is a versatile and useful social networking tool. With Twitter, you can promote your business, drive traffic to a website or blog, make friends or just communicate with loved ones. You can use it with your cell phone or your instant messaging application. In addition, you can customize Twitter to reflect a bit about who you are by adding a background to a Twitter page.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a background image. The image must be smaller than 700 kb. It can be in JPG, GIF or PNG format. Make certain you choose an image that doesn't contrast too deeply with the default text and button display colors on Twitter.

  2. Step 2

Log in to your Twitter account. Click "Settings" from the menu on the upper right of the Twitter home page. From the settings page, click "Design." This takes you to the "Design Your Twitter" page.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Use My Custom Style Below" radio button. This allows you to modify your Twitter background.

  4. Step 4

Click the "Use Background Image" located under "Background Image."

  5. Step 5

Pick "Browse" and navigate to the folder containing your image file. Select your image file and click "Open."

  6. Step 6

Save your settings by clicking "Save." Browse to your Twitter page to see how the background image looks on your screen.

  7. Step 7

Tile your background image, if you wish, by selecting "Tile" on the "Design Your Twitter" page.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your Twitter background image looks distorted, consider resizing the original image and repeating the upload process.
