The tire tap on a BMX is a great visual and a good street skill to have. It is an intermediate level trick.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get on the bike and start riding. You want to have a good rhythm going before you attempt the tap. This is a trick and is for experienced riders.

  2. Step 2

Use the handlebars to turn the front wheel sharply to the left mid-cycle. Complete Steps 2 and 3 almost simultaneously.

  3. Step 3

Pull up on the front of the bike as you grip the handlebars lifting the front wheel into the air. Be sure to continue the motion, turning the bike around in the air for full dramatic effect. The bike should turn a full 360 degrees while in the air so be sure to put all your strength into creating the swinging motion.

  4. Step 4

Tap the bike wheel of the bike on the ground briefly before moving quickly on to Step 5. this is the tap and you should land the base of the bike very briefly after spinning the bike 360 degrees once.

  5. Step 5

Spin the bike another 360 degrees in mid-air before landing the back front wheel first. The second spin does not have to be as high as the first and may be just above the ground's surface.

  6. Step 6

Continue riding the bike in a normal fashion.

  7. Step 7

Practice this trick to get all the kinks out of the moves and to build your forearm strength. Strong arms are necessary for a well-executed tire tap.
