Teach preschoolers the basics of rules like listening, raising hands and respecting others. At this age gymnastics is as much about socialization and listening skills as it is about the sport.

Spend some time reviewing the local standards for kindergarten readiness. Add standards such as motor skills and following verbal directions as a part of your gymnastics program.

Start with the basics of gymnastics, teaching movement, balance and motor skills.

Integrate a fitness section into the preschool gymnastics class that includes basic gymnastics movements like forward rolls, cartwheels or tumbling.

Provide an opportunity for your preschool class to dance. Give the kids an opportunity to get used to rhythm and movement as it compares to a floor exercise routine.

Teach stretching and warm up routines, and work into basic tumbling. Allow each child a chance to work on the beam, horse or parallel bars, without making it a requirement, and only with direct supervision.

Go over gym rules on the first day, and post them for parents to read as well. It isn't a bad idea to review the rules each day before class starts.
There should be one teacher for every six children. Fewer is even better. Keep your preschool students safe and help them learn with a good teacher to student ratio.
