How to Solve a Dominoes Logic Puzzle

At a first glance, a dominoes logic puzzle looks like a grid with an even number of digits contained in it. The object of the game is to pair adjacent numbers together using only the digit combinations found on a set of six spot dominoes. When the puzzle is finished, all digits will be matched with a partner.

Instructions

1. Start the puzzle by looking for identical pairs of digits. Search the puzzle for two sixes adjacent to one another. If there is only one instance of the pair in the entire puzzle, mark the pair by drawing a heavy outline around it, creating a domino. Continue looking for identical pairs of fives, fours, threes, twos or ones.

2. Utilize the check off grid next to the puzzle. Mark off each domino pair as it is found. This will make it easy for one to visualize which domino pairs still need to be matched.

3. Look at the corners of the grid. If the corner number has the same number adjacent to it on both sides then one can reason that the number pair will be located in that corner and not anywhere else in the puzzle grid. Lightly draw a line connecting the three numbers to mark the location.

4. Check the grid for obvious dominoes. Previous pairs may have isolated other individual digits or possibly digit pairs. Mark these domino pairs in the puzzle grid and the check off grid.

5. Continue to solve the puzzle by looking for unique number matches. Start with the 5:6 combination. If there is only one unique pair in the puzzle grid, mark the domino on the puzzle grid and mark it off on the check off list. Continue to search for each remaining domino in the check off list to see if there is a unique pair in the puzzle.

6. Repeat Step 4 and Step 5 until the puzzle is complete.
