How to Use BobCAD Software
While other CAD drafting software tries to dominate the market, BobCAD makes things easy for the machine shop. BobCAD software, from version 18 on up to the latest version 22, is a low cost alternative to products like Mastercam, and is better suited to shop floor design. Here is how to switch to BobCAD software so your shop reaps the benefits of this powerful tool.

1
Visit the BobCAD software home page and get the latest specs on the product. This way you get a general idea of what the tool will do and what compatibility issues you'll have transferring your current files to the BobCAD format.
-
2
Download a free trial version of BobCAD 22. This is the latest version of the BobCAD software. It is a full demo version in which all design, import and tool programming is available.

3
Import your current designs into BobCAD Format. For 3D work you'll have to translate your designs into wireframe first. Version 22 has a primitive solid modeling component, but the software still best translates wireframe.

Start designing. The great thing about BobCAD software is the shallow learning curve. Its user-friendly layout makes it easy for board and scratch pad drafters to get up and running on CNCs and laptops, and it doesn't have a bunch of options you'll never use.

5
Buy the software. You'll be so impressed with the way your designs look and how easy you can program the tools in your shop that you'll want to pick up the software. A full version of BobCAD V22 runs about $2,500, while V21 runs about $2,000.
