Looking for a breakfast that will give you energy all morning, and keep your tummy from growling until mid-afternoon? This is a great trick if you're on a calorie restricted diet, or are looking for a low-point Weight Watchers breakfast. And guess what? It's insanely good.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 medium apple (I like Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp light brown sugar
  • Cinnamon/Splenda to taste
  • Microwave, Microwave-proof bowl
Step1
1. Dice apple (I like to cut the 4 sides around the core, leaving the skin on, then stack the sides up and chop)
Step2
2. Measure 1/2 cup of quick-cooking oats and 1 cup of water
Step3
3. Mix together in microwave-proof bowl, then add apples to oat-water mix; stir all together
Step4
4. Microwave for 5 minutes but watch to make sure the mix doesn't bubble over
Step5
5. Using oven mitts, take bowl out and add cinnamon, splenda and brown sugar to taste

Tips & Warnings

  • This is 3 points on Weight Watchers
  • Add more water to make a thinner oatmeal; less to make a thicker oatmeal
  • Play with your additions! Instead of the apple, try frozen berries or some canned pumpkin.
  • The bowl will be very hot when you remove it from the microwave, so be sure to use oven mitts to take it out, and let the oatmeal sit for a few minutes before diving in.
