Things You'll Need:
- 2 cups dried cherries (about 14 oz)
- 1 cup grated fresh ginger root
- 3 large oranges, peeled & chopped (white pith and seeds removed); juice reserved (see below)
- 2 Tbsp orange zest
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp brandy
- Water plus reserved juice from oranges to equal 1 cup

The assembled main ingredientsPlace all ingredients in a large, heavy saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

Makes a great gift too!Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding a bit more water if needed.

Chill thoroughly before serving. Makes about 2 pints.
