Pull your hair back in a style that you can fit a doo rag over. Your hair needs to be in a flat style because you will need to tie the doo rag so it can stay in place. Doo rags will fit over braids, hair brushed back, ponytails, low hair cuts, bald heads, and any other style that isn’t bulging or sitting up too high.

Fold the doo rag into a triangular shape. Most doo rags are large square shapes. Take one of the corners and fold it over in a triangle so that the pointed end of the cloth is slightly past the middle of the doo rag and aligned with the other pointed end. Next, smooth out the doo rag and place the middle of the folded part at the top part of your head right above your forehead. Grab a hold of the ends on the left and right sides and tie them together at the back of your head right at the nape of your neck. Tie it in a knot to be sure it stays in place and doesn’t come untied.

Match your doo rag to your clothes to create a coordinated look. In addition to wearing doo rags on your head, you can create all sorts of looks with them. You can knot the ends of several doo rags together to create a belt.
