Owning your own home involves maintenance and upkeep. Cutting the grass is one of the main forms of upkeep involved in owning a home. To make it easier on yourself, before you cut the grass, be sure to ready your lawn. That way you can continue to cut the grass without having to stop.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • lawn mower
  • wagon or wheelbarrow
  • extra pair of hands(if handy)
  • time
Step1
The first step is to clear the yard. Make sure all outdoor toys, bikes, tools, etc have been moved before you begin. This way you do not have to stop and move them as you are cutting the grass. A good tip is to have your child or yourself put the items up after they have been used. This will save time as well.
Step2
Next, look over your yard for any debris such as fallen limbs, branches or other odds and ends. It will hurt your lawn mower and possibly yourself if you run over a large branch or piece of metal. Your yard should really be looked over if a storm has taken place or other form of weather, as that usually leads to fallen branches.
Step3
Also if you make sure you have gas and oil for your lawn mower that will help you to not have to stop as well.

on 7/28/2008 Don't forget the dog poop. I hate when it gets stuck in my tractor's turf tires.
One other thing I do, about once a month, the day before, is to go around with my hatched-sized weed fork, and chop out the goosegrass, dandelions or other little weed clumps which have tried to get a foothold in my beautiful bermudagrass carpet. Let them sit with the roots exposed, drying out for a day, then mulch them up with the grass clippings while you mow.
