Things You'll Need:
- ginger
- peppermint
- 7-up
- toast or crackers
-
Step 1
Ginger should be your first step. It is the traditional remedy for a nauseous, queasy stomach for good reason, it works! Fresh ginger root is the best. It is available at most grocery stores. Peel away the bark and then grate or chop the white flesh until you have a teaspoon of it. Steep this in 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes. If you don't have fresh ginger, try a prepared bag of ginger tea or ginger snaps.
-
Step 2
Try some peppermint. If the ginger doesn't do the trick, the next step is peppermint. Peppermint has a soothing effect on the lining of the stomach. Try bags of tea with peppermint, peppermint candy, or simply sniffing essential peppermint oil. If you have fresh peppermint leaves for making tea, fresh whole peppermint is always best.
-
Step 3
Rest. It is important to lie still when you feel nauseous. Be still and give your body a chance to heal itself.
-
Step 4
When you feel you can eat, try some dry toast or crackers. The carbohydrates will help calm your stomach, but it is important to stay away from grease or butter on the toast.
-
Step 5
I don't normally recommend drinking soda, but as a last resort 7-up can help. The high sugar content and fizz sometimes calms a queasy stomach.
