The Scotch-A-Roo treat developed as a variation on a regular Rice Krispies square. It mixes peanut butter and butterscotch with the Rice Krispies. Scotch-A-Roos can be made in less than 40 minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 6 oz. butterscotch chips
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips
  • Mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Baking pan, 11-by-13 inches

Instructions

      Mix the syrup and sugar over medium-high heat in a saucepan. Remove it from the heat when it reaches a full boil.

      Add the peanut butter to the mix while it's still hot. Mix the peanut butter in well, then add the Rice Krispies until the cereal is coated.

      Grease the 11-by-13 inch baking pan. Spead the mix evenly in the pan.

      Microwave the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Stir the melted pieces together and pour them over the top of the krispies.

      Let the batch cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting and serving them.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't like butterscotch, substitute with chocolate chips.
