Do you need a dog bad behavior stopper? Does your dog do things you just can’t control, such as nuisance barking, chewing, jumping at or on people, and climbing on furniture, and other inappropriate undesirable behaviors? Does your yelling and screaming not work, and you don’t have time to take your dog to obedience training? Then here is something you need, it’s called the “Behavior Stopper” and it is only going to cost you pennies to build. The ‘Behavior Stopper’ uses a very popular training method to deter a dog’s bad behavior. The method used is load noises, most humans hate and are startled by load noises, and since a dog’s hearing is hundreds of times better then ours they too hate and are startles by loud noises. When the dog is startled, he will stop the behaviour he is doing, you use this opportunity to give the dog a command. Now you’re going to learn how to build a ‘Behavior Stopper’, which is a inexpensive, simple correction device, to overcome your dog’s unwanted behaviors.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Aluminium can
  • Pennies
  • Duct tape
Step1
Aluminium can Selection aluminium can, here are a few ideas a V8 can, beer can or soda can (but don’t use anything other than an aluminium can, because they work the best). Remove the pull tab.
Step2
Pennies Select one of the following items bolts, nails, pennies, pebbles, screws, etc., put about 10-20 of the items into the aluminium can. (I personally use pennies, for the high pitch metal to metal sound they make.)
Step3
Red Duct Tape Put Duct tape securely over the opening of the aluminum to prevent the items you chose from flying out when you shake the ‘Stopper’.
Step4
Each time the dog does a behaviors you don’t like, give the dog a command "quiet," "no" or "leave it”, etc., if he doesn’t respond.
Step5
Use the ’Behavior Stopper’, shake the ‘Stopper’ once with one up/down motion. Try not to shake the ‘Stopper’ more than once, if you do, the dog may quickly become desensitize to the startling effect of the sudden, unpleasant sound. After the shake of the ‘Stopper’ your dog should be startled and stop the behavior, look around for the offending noise. Use this break in the bad behavior to give your dog a command "quiet," "no" or "leave it”, etc., because he is now listening to you.
Step6
If the dog still doesn’t respond toss the ‘Behavior stopper’ in the dog's direction, don’t try to hit the dog, just aim the ‘Stopper’ so it lands near the dog. When the ‘Stopper’ lands the plinking of the pennies inside should startle your dog, again give the dog a command "quiet," "no" or "leave it”, etc.
Step7
If you consistently use the ‘Behavior Stopper’ each time the dog does a bad behavior you will find that the dog quickly learns not to do the behavior. If it is barking you’re trying to control, he may try and sneak one short bark, but I bet he looks over his shoulder and stops himself because he knows in a second there is going to be the noise of the ‘Behavior Stopper’. And yes, it may even frighten your dog a little bit, but trust me, the ‘Stopper’ is an all purpose fixer to correct your dog’s misbehavior. Remember one thing, always use the ‘Stopper’ with a command, "quiet," "no" or "leave it”, etc., after a while all you should have to do is say a command.
