How to Cool Off in a Healthy and Fun Way for Kids

My kids are so easy to please. I think all kids are pretty easy to please. There are many ways that you can have fun and stay cool during the summer. If that isn't enough, there is refreshing and healthy ways to do just that. Uhm did I mention... with the kids as well? Let them get involved!!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • juice (flavors the kids like)
  • ice
  • ice trays
  • snow cone maker (can find at a department store, fairly reasonable)
  • popsicle sticks

Step1
You will want to choose juices. Some may use cool-aid (which is fine in moderation) but juice is healthier and kids do love it believe it or not.

Our favorites here are pineapple-orange, kiwi-strawberry, grape and apple. You may choose to use Gatorade or other healthy drinks as well.
Step2
Depending on how many children you have, you want to fill the trays with juice. I would say 7 cubes per child. Now here is where you decide (well the kids) what you want to make. Ice pops or slushies. If they want ice pops then put a popsicle stick in the juice. They will lay crooked but that is ok.
Step3
Freeze completely. This will take about 2-3 hours or so.
Step4
When the cubes are frozen then they can eat their popsicle or make a healthy juice slushie with the ice shaver. Delicious and healthy for the whole family. Something fun to do with the kids during the summer.

Tips & Warnings

  • any drink will work
  • there is Icee syrup you can purchase as well
  • juice will keep the kids cool and hydrated
  • this idea restores the much needed electrolytes in our bodies to prevent dehydration
  • too much sugar is not good so if you use cool-aide or syrup, don't do it too often
