How to Make Corn Syrup

This is a simple and easy recipe for corn syrup that anyone can make.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
  • pinch of salt
  • sauce pan with lid
  1. Step 1

    In a saucepan combine all ingredients over medium heat; bring to a boil; then reduce heat and simmer.

  2. Step 2

    Put the lid on the pan and cook 3 minutes

  3. Step 3

    uncover and cook, stirring often. To test drop a little in a glass of cold water, if it drops to bottom of water then it is ready.

  4. Step 4

    Cool the syrup and store at room temperature.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store for up to 2 months.

on 10/6/2009 I believe the ingredients listed here are not the correct proportions. I tried the recipe and it came out too thin.

I think the correct ratios should be:
2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
pinch of salt
