The video game audience clearly swings more toward the male side, but it isn't impossible to get girls to play along. When I was a kid, I used to play Super Mario Bros. on his Nintendo 64. I loved it. But as my brother and I grew apart, I really didn't have anyone to play video games with. So I didn't play much. And my family went through the consoles as they came out: PlayStation, Game Cube, PlayStation 2, Xbox... It wasn't until we got a Nintendo Wii that my attention turned back to video games. Nintendo Wii is the key to getting your girl to play.

on 7/14/2008 Great article. I'd also written a similar article like yours. By the way, I'm a girl gamer (played video games since Nintendo came out) and I LOVE 'shoot em up' video games!

on 6/29/2008 My husband got me a Wii - and I do play with him. Wii Fit is my favorite. BUT - I used to play World of Warcraft with him too. So I've got the girl-geek thing going.
