How to Make Blueberry Lemonade

Make blueberry lemonade from fresh fruit.

Put a little different spin on lemonade by adding blueberries. For the best results, use fresh berries, squeeze the lemon juice rather than buying a prepared drink and cook up a simple syrup. This method may take a few extra minutes, but it's well worth the time.

Things You'll Need

• 1 cup sugar plus 2 tablespoons
• 2 cups water
• 1 pint fresh blueberries
• 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice, about 12 lemons
• Blender

Instructions

1. Combine 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water in a pan over medium heat. Continue stirring until it comes to a boil.

2. Lower the heat after the syrup boils and let it simmer about 1 minute.

3. Remove the syrup from the stove and let it cool.

4. Puree the blueberries in the blender with 2 tablespoons sugar.

5. Pour the syrup, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and pureed blueberries into a pitcher.

6. Measure about 1/4 cup of the syrup mixture into each glass and fill with ice and water to serve.
