Features to consider when buying a new computer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
The more memory space the better. Are you ready to purchase a new computer? If so, then you will need to know what features to look for. With the computer industry changing everyday, new features are always being added or modified. The first choice that you want to make is whether to buy a desktop or laptop. If you need mobility, then I would suggest a laptop. Desktops are easier to repair and cheaper. The first thing that you are going to want to look for is the memory of the computer. Memory is a big factor in determining how quickly your computer performs tasks. I would not buy a computer with less than 512MB of memory. If you are planning on doing lots of multimedia work that require alot of operating resources, you should probaly get 2GB of memory.
Step2
The next thing you are going to want to look at is processors. Processor choices are a bit more difficult now than they were before. Its still a choice between a AMD and an intel processor. The difference comes in how many cores are in the processor and its relative speed. Each company has a performance rating system that you can go by.
Step3
Hard drives are the soul of the computer. Next you are going to want to look at the hard drive. Hard drives really boil down to size and speed. The larger and faster the drive, the better the performance. It is best to have at least 250GB or more of storeage space these days.
Step4
Most all computers come with dvd burners now. Next you are going to want to look at CD/DVD drives. Most systems sold now features DVD burners. It is best that you get a multiformat DVD burner that can support both the positive R/RW and the negative R/RW formats. Your speed should be 16x for the recordable speed.
Step5
Next you want to look at the video card technology of the computer. If you arent really doing any 3D graphics at all, then integrated graphics will do just fine. Beyond this there are a wide selection of video cards.
Step6
Finnaly, what good is a computer if it doesnt have a monitor. You can choose between a LCD and a CRT monitor but LCDs are pretty much the standard now. The price difference between 17 inch and 19 inch make the 19 inch the best overall value.
