This July Fourth, instead of potato chips and other high fat greasy snacks/pick-ons, why not try a simple heart healthy vegetable platter complete with low fat homemade onion dip?

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two cucumbers (wash first and slice thinly with the skins in tact)
  • Six celery stalks washed, cut into two inch pieces for dipping)
  • One pack of cherry tomatoes (washed)
  • One pack of small Bella mushrooms (washed, drained, and sliced)
  • 16 ounces of low-fat sour cream
  • One package of onion soup mix
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Step1
Arrange the vegetables on a large circular platter, making circles with each ingredient. Place the mushrooms in the center of the circle.
Step2
Mix low fat sour cream, onion soup mix, and garlic powder, thoroughly in a large mixing bowl by hand.
Step3
Transfer to a serving bowl. For best results, chill covered for at least one hour before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget to follow the ingredients list provided for the sizes to cut the veggies for dipping!
  • You can substitute non-fat sour cream instead of the low fat version, if desired.
  • Use a decorative platter and dip bowl to add to the party ambiance!
