Things You'll Need:
- Kitchen timer
- Cake server
- Kitchen shears
- Strainer

Step 1
Have you ever been sitting around when suddenly you remember you forgot to turn off the water on your tomatoes or your roses . . . now they're drowning in water and the soil is all mucky! Here is away I've solved that problem for my own gardening experience:
KITCHEN TIMER: When I'm watering the sections of my garden or lawn, I just set my kitchen timer for the number of minutes I want the water to flow. When I hear the "ding," that's my signal to move the water and restart the timer.
This little trick has saved me from many "Oh No!" moments! -
Step 2
I hate weeds . . . and even more, I hate weeding! I especially hate those pesky little weeds that are too small to pull yet need to evacuate my garden space. Here's what I did!
CAKE SERVER: I purchased an inexpensive cake server with a serrated edge. Now I merely "slice the weeds" just under the soil surface. The roots are left to their rotful place and the weed tops are easily scooped away and tossed. So easy and fun! -
Step 3
KITCHEN SHEARS: I keep an inexpensive pair of kitchen shears with my gardening tools for quick and easy snipping. I use them to cut flowers, snip herbs, remove unwanted branches or buds, and for other simple gardening tasks. They are cheaper than garden clippers, easier to sharpen, can fit into tighter spaces and they're easier to pack around.

Step 4
http://Seed-Tape.comSTRAINER: I also keep a small kitchen strainer with my gardening tools. I use this handy device to "dust" seeds with soil when I plant. First, I make my own seed tape (see www.Seed-Tape.com) because it's so much easier, neater, and safes me a lot of money in wasted seeds. So I take the prepared seed tape, lay it in a shallow trench, and then cover the seed with soil using the strainer. It's so easy and I don't cover my tiny seeds with too much soil so they can't germinate properly.
