How to Make Snowflake Suncatchers

Snowflakes glistening like diamonds is a beautiful sight, and so are handmade snowflake suncatchers. Here's how to make them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Brushes
  • Glitter
  • 1/8-inch ribbon
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • Snowflake pattern
  • Pencil
  • X-Acto knife
  • All purpose glue
  • Paper plate
  • Carbon paper
  1. Step 1

    Trace a snowflake pattern onto the cardboard (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Cut out the pattern with scissors and an X-Acto knife.

  3. Step 3

    Punch a hole with hole punch at the top of the snowflake.

  4. Step 4

    Paint the snowflake, either in white or a light blue color. Allow to dry.

  5. Step 5

    Apply a thin coat of glue to one side of the snowflake.

  6. Step 6

    While glue is still wet, sprinkle on glitter and gently shake off any excess. Allow to dry.

  7. Step 7

    Follow Steps 6 through 8 for the back side of the snowflake.

  8. Step 8

    Place a ribbon through the hole and tie a knot.

Tips & Warnings
  • These snowflakes can also be used to decorate the Christmas tree.
