Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
IT MUST HAVE GOOD COFFEE:
While what is "good coffee" is highly subjective, a few general rules apply. If it tastes like gas station coffee, it is cheap stuff and I would look for another coffee shop. If it's gritty, look elsewhere. Personally, I find burnt tasting coffee like Starbucks coffee to be abhorrent.
Step2
IT MUST NOT BE RIDICULOUSLY NOISY AND/OR CROWDED:
I've been to a few coffee places in Seattle and on the west side of Chicago that are so crowded and freakin' loud that I was unable to actually enjoy myself. I advise that you look for a place that fits your own definition of serenity.
Step3
IT MUST HAVE *FREE* WIFI:
One of the reasons I avoid Starbucks, Borders, and other popular chains is that they don't provide Free Wifi. Wifi is actually fairly cheap, so for these big companies not to provide it for free is a total joke. Give your money to the little guy.
Step4
SEE IF THE COFFEE SHOP IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY:
The coffee place by my house, the Bridgeport Coffee Company of Chicago, is an environmentally friendly cafe with recycling programs and recycled cupas and lids. Big corporate stores don't even try to be this resourceful.
