Keep your pet safe this 4th of July

The sound and dangers of exploding fireworks can frighten or even harm your pet. Follow these simple suggestions for keeping your pet safe this 4th of July.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep your pet inside during the festivities.

Animals are usually frightened by loud noises and will try to hide or chew through leashes to get away to a safer place. Some pets may jump fences or even run away. Those who are not afraid may become curious and walk up to lit fireworks just prior to explosion. Your pet could easily sustain hearing lose or an injury by doing this.

  2. Step 2

    Find a quiet room.

With your pet inside, put them in a quiet room isolated as much as possible from the noise of exploding fireworks. If this is not possible, make sure windows are closed, curtains are closed, and you may want to turn a radio or tv (not too loud) to mask the explosions.

  3. Step 3

    Keep your pet comfortable.

Supply your pet temporary room with his or her favorite toys, a bed, food, water, and a fan or comfortable temperatures.
