How to Spackle

Spackle is used for walls that have taken somewhat of a beaten over the years. You might have thought it difficult but really, it's a no brainer. Here's how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • bucket
  • sandpaper
  • water
  • sponge
  • Pudy knife
  • spackel

Step1
Before you begin. Know that spackle is intended for small dents and holes.
Step2
Make sure your lighting is ample to view imperfections.
Step3
If you find that there are bumps sticking out of the wall dent or hole, use your knife to scrap them off.
Step4
Begin to sand all areas you plan to spackle. Then clean with soap and water. Wipe dry with cloth or paper towel. Allow to dry for a few minutes.
Step5
Now, begin to mix the spackle well with your knife. Take a small amount onto the knife and gently glide it over the smooth area.
Step6
Make sure you remove all excess spackle.
Step7
If the hole is a bit deeper than you expected, wait for first stage of spackle to dry and than fill in after it dries again. Repeat as necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always prime before paint
  • For a shiny finish dip your pudy knife into water before the spackle
