Are you a bookworm? Do you devour books at a pace that makes it difficult to keep the book shelf stocked with books that hold your interest? Knowing what book to read next and keeping a useable "what to read next" list can be a challenge. Find books whose pages you will want to keep turning by making use of resources that are just a few clicks away.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
Step1
Start at Amazon.com. Amazon is a great way to get leads on books. Just type in the title of one of your favorite books, and wait for the list of books with the same title to appear. Notice the margin--you will see something called Listmania. These are customer created lists of books that are similar to the book you've just searched for. Browse them and you are likely to find a few books to add to your list.

Click on the title of the book you originally searched for and you will be taken to a page that details the book. Here Amazon also includes a section titled "Customers who bought this item also bought" where you will be given the chance to browse lots of other books that are similar to the book you originally searched for. Another great way to get a lead on something to read.
Step2
Give BarnesandNoble.com a try. At Barnes and Noble you will find features very similar to those offered by Amazon. In addition to these features, many of the customer reviews of books include a section called "Also recommended" where you can get book recommendations from people who enjoy the same sorts of books as you. Almost as good as a personal book recommendation from a friend.
Step3
Try Librarythingy.com. This site calls itself "The World's Largest Book Club" and also claims to be referred to by some as "Myspace for books" and "Facebook for books." The site is free to join (though you can also increase your participation with the site when you pay a yearly fee) and it allows you to mix and mingle with other readers, share book reviews, create catalogs of the books you've read, books you want to read and books you've already read, make and receive book recommendations and just enjoy the camaraderie of people who love books as much as you.
Step4
Find out what books your favorite authors are reading. Chances are if you like a particular author's books, you will also share their reading tastes. Google your favorite author and see if they have a website. Many authors do and you just might find a recommended reading list on the site.
Step5
Check places like Yahoo Groups for reading groups you can join. Full of other bookworms, book clubs are a valuable resource for book lovers. Members are full of reading experience and bursting with book suggestions for anyone willing to listen.

Tips & Warnings

  • Another great place to get book suggestions can be found in the newsletters that are sent out by sites like Borders.com. It is quick, easy and free to sign up and Borders will send newsletters full of book reviews that might lead you to your next favorite book.
