Bartend at Your Own Party
Bartend at Your Own Party

So you invited the crew over for a weekend party? Told them all they needed to bring was whatever they wanted to drink and leave it up to you? Finding yourself a little overwhelmed now? Here are a couple of tips to make it a little easier.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plenty of space
  • A "Bartenders Bible"
  • Bartenders Tool-kit
  • A Few Beers
  • Plenty of Cherries and Various Citrus Fruit for Garnish
  1. Step 1

The first thing you really need is a sense of humility. You are not Tom Cruise and this isn't "Cocktail". Refrain from tossing around bottles and glasses. Eventually someone will get hurt. You can't avoid it. Take your time and make your drinks the right way, not the flashy way. In the end it's what you mix, not how you look while you mix it.

  2. Step 2

Bring your sense of humor and a bright personality. You are, after all, entertaining guests. Don't be robotic when serving your guests.

  3. Step 3

Equip yourself. Make sure you have good tools to mix your drinks with. Just pouring the ingredients in a glass and stirring it up doesn't always work.

  4. Step 4

Bring your A-game. Make sure you are stocked up for your signature drink. Whether it be a martini, a whiskey sour, or Pina Colada; be prepared to make something your guests weren't expecting. The right drink can take you from a beer-bust to a cocktail party in less than a minute.

  5. Step 5

Be prepared. Stock your fridge with plenty of fruit for garnish. Your friends will remember their liquor, but only the guys who brings tequila remembers the lime.

  6. Step 6

Have a backup plan. There are literally thousands of books out there that have hundreds of drink recipes. Wouldn't you be embarrassed if you couldn't mix a simple martini?

Tips & Warnings
  • Go easy on the drinks yourself.
  • Keep an eye on your guests and make sure they don't over do it.
  • Ask your guests to volunteer their keys, just in case.
  • Stock some beer for those who do not prefer hard alcohol drinks.
  • Never drink and drive.
  • Always designate a driver.
