Step1
Depending on your financial position, you may be in the market to protect yourself by insuring the major components inside your home. Unexpected home repairs that are NOT covered by your homeowners insurance such as; heating and cooling systems, televisions and major appliances can be a major expense to many if they fail.
Step2
As we all know insurance covers expensive items for a relatively low cost through premiums. We all know we must have insurance on our homes and vehicles, because it is required, many choose to insure their lives for those who remain after they are gone, but many of us fail to insure the things that get the most use from us everyday.
Step3
For a moment, step back out of your busy life and think about where you stand right now. With increasing living costs, savings has become almost a luxury, the very thing we all have to fall back on a "rainy day." So ask yourself these questions:

1. Would I be able to afford a home repair of $5000 or more?

2. Would I have to finance this home repair at unfavorable rates, or use a charge card to pay for them?

3. Would a large repair take away the families safety net?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, proceed to step 4, if not then you may just want to protect yourself, the wealthy insure EVERYTHING.
Step4
For the relatively low price (starting at around $20 per month) it is worth the investment. There aren't many companies that warranty these items but below I have included a link with one that I saw on MSNBC. Just fill out a quick form and get a quote, it's easy and there is no obligation for you to buy.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is cheaper to insure yourself if you have credit problems, you will not get favorable rates to finance such projects.
  • As always, with any insurance policy you should read the policy and know what is covered and what is not covered.
