This Jamabalay recipe is easy, fool proof, and inexpensive to make. It requires very little effort, and is something anyone can cook. You can alter how spicy it is by changing flavors of sausage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 stick of butter or margarine
  • 1 lb smoked or cajun sausage (Little Smokies are great in this).
  • 1 tbsp chopped celery
  • 1 tbsp chopped shallots
  • 1 tbsp chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 can liquid beef bouillion or broth
  • 1/2 can water
  • dash worcestershire sauce.
  • 1 9x13 baking dish
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Cut butter up into pats. Put butter and all the rest of the ingredients in 9x13 dish.

  3. Step 3

Cover dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 50 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Take the dish from the oven and remove the foil. Stir lightly with a fork, then return it to the oven for 5 minutes, uncovered.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like your Jambalaya a little spicier, try adding a hot cajun sausage instead of smoked. You can also replace some of the sausage with diced pork loin or chicken breasts. Adding a little cajun seasoning will add some kick as well. If you prefer a tomato based Jambalaya, repace the water with a 1/2 can of tomato sauce.
