Make Fresh Guacamole

This article will teach you how to make fresh guacamole.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Ripe Tomato
  • 2 Limes
  • 2 - 3 Ripe Small Avocados
  • 1/2 Onion Finely Chopped
  • Ground Cumin
  • Mild Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Green Chile (Jalapeño or Serrano - Finley Chopped and Seeded)
  • 1 Tablespoon of Chopped Cilantro and A Few Extra Cilantro Leaves for Garnish
  • Salt
  • Medium Size Saucepan
  • 2 or 3 Medium Size Bowls
  • Wooden Mixing Spoons
  • Tortilla Chips to Enjoy Your Guacamole!
  1. Step 1

Place your tomato in a bowl, and in your medium size saucepan boil about 1 cup of water. Once it is boiling pour the water over the tomato and let stand in the hot water for about 30 seconds. Carefully remove the tomato from the hot water and put it directly into cold water. This will allow you to peel off the skin of the tomato. Once you have peeled the tomato slice it in half and remove as many seeds as you can. Then chop into small cubed pieces.

  2. Step 2

Slice the limes into wedges and squeeze the juice into one of your mixing bowls. Cut all avocados in half around the pit in the center. Twist the two halves in opposite directions to pull apart. Remove the pit with a knife. Carefully peel off the skin of the avocados. Dice the avocados and put in the bowl of lime juice. Take a fork and mash the avocados into a paste like consistency.

  3. Step 3

Add you 1/2 finely chopped onion, a pinch of ground cumin, a pinch of mild chili powder, 1/2 finely chopped chile (which ever one you chose to use) and finely chopped cilantro to the avocado mixture. Mix well together. You may add a little bit of salt - but not to much. Remember there will be salt on your tortilla chips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't over mash the avocados as you don't want runny guacamole.
  • Be careful when pouring the hot water on the tomato as you don't want to burn yourself.
