Clean Out Your Start Up Program in Windows XP

Every time you boot Windows XP, there are many programs that startup in the background which aren't necessary and waste resources. Program installers routinely add update routines, quick launch features and other functions to your system. In theory these add-ons should speed up launching, keep programs updated or let you use a particular program more efficiently. In practice they bog down your system with resources for programs you aren't using all the time. Disable those you don't need using Microsoft's System Configuration Utility.
