Things You'll Need:
- Home and garden magazines
- Camera
-
Step 1
Determine the location for your rock garden fountain. Examine the entire area and think about how the fountain will be viewed from the front, sides and back. Note any challenges you might face when building your fountain in that area.
-
Step 2
Take pictures of the area you have selected for your fountain and any surrounding foliage or garden furniture. Take note of the colors and textures in the area, and think about how your rock garden fountain can include and compliment them.
-
Step 3
Look through home and garden magazines to get an idea of what kind of rock fountain designs appeal to you. Clip any pictures you love.
-
Step 4
Visit your local garden center. Make sure to bring your pictures and magazine clippings along. Look at displays, available rocks and plants to weigh your options and determine what would look good in your space. If you cannot find something that you desire, ask a garden center employee for help.
-
Step 5
Select the materials needed for your rock garden fountain. Remember to include the essential hardware (liner, pump, etc.) as well as the visually appealing items (rocks, plants, etc.).
