  • Sun Hats
  • Alpha-hydroxy Lotions
  • Sunscreen
  • Alpha-hydroxy lotions
  1. Step 1

Use sunscreen when you go out, paying particular attention to your face and hands. Age spots are caused by a lifetime of exposure to the sun, so the sooner you start wearing sunblock, the less likely it is that you'll get them.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you choose a sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays and has an SPF of at least 15.

  3. Step 3

Wear a long-sleeved shirt and wide-brimmed hat when you know you'll be in the sun.

  4. Step 4

Try to minimize exposure to sunlight between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when sunlight is strongest.

  5. Step 5

Use alpha-hydroxy lotions to keep skin smooth and clear.
