MMM - who doesn't love some freshly cooked corn on the cob? A perfect side dish for summer BBQ's, corn on the cob is inexpensive, quick, easy and delicious. Start shucking and get ready to eat!
Pick some good looking corn on the cob! You can always sneak a peek into the top of the cob by pulling back the tippy top husks to see if the kernels are nice and full. I like the full and round cobs the best.
Step2
To prepare corn, take corn cob and start to pull on the top outer husks down toward you. Continue to do this until all husks are completely removed. This is called shucking! You can do this over the sink, over the garbage can, where ever it is easiest for you. It will get a tad messy, but the cleanup is quick and easy.
Step3
A lot of times there will be extra stem on the end. This will easily snap off still leaving you a nice base to later place your corn holders at the table to eat with.
Step4
Wipe away as many "whiskers" or fine strands as you can with your hands. There are always some that need to be picked away by hand. You can also lightly rub the cob with a vegetable brush. Then rinse the cob with water.
Step5
Your corn on the cob is now ready to be boiled and enjoyed!
Tips & Warnings
Do not shuck corn if you are planning to grill it.
