Life can be very stressful From day to day "life issues" such as managing a home, job, parenting, bills, etc. to trauma, death, and mental illness. Everyone needs a little help from time to time. Therapy can be beneficial if you are seeking help.
Step2
If you are experiencing mood swings, irritability, difficulty concentrating, tearfulness, that is atypical for you, it would be advised to seek therapy to try to identify cause of distress and identify effective ways to cope with stressors or disorder(if applies).
Step3
If you are experiencing a difficult situation (marital or family issues, job stress or loss, bereavement) then therapy may help you to cope with the situation more effectively.
Step4
If you have experienced a trauma (past or present), therapy can help cope with emotions and thoughts associated with the trauma and help to resolve issues related to trauma.
Step5
If you have been diagnosed with a mental disorder, therapy can help with ways to manage symptoms, behaviors and thinking.
Step6
If you have an addiction, therapy can assist in identification of triggers, behavioral plans, relapse prevention plans, positive support systems, and ways to change cognitive distortions.
Step7
If you have legal issues, therapy may help you process thinking errors resulting in illegal activities or how to cope with stressors relating to process.
Step8
If you feel you need someone to talk to and do not where to turn, therapy is a great resource. There is no need to feel ashamed or frightened. It will allow you to turn to an objective professional who is not judgmental and can help you process through an issue or assist in identifying solutions.
